The Associated Press reports that Rhode Island is in violation of federal law for not providing court interpreters for non-English speakers in all civil cases, according to a new study by the Brennan center for Justice at the NYU School of Law. Among its study of 35 states, it said 46% do not require interpreters in all civil cases, in contravention of Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which the report says covers the RI Judiciary.
