A federal jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts has ordered a Boston University graduate student to pay $675,000 to four record agencies, for illegally downloading and sharing music online.  While the defendant's lawyer urged the jury to award only minimal damages as he was just "a kid who did what kids do," the recording industry urged jurors to send a strong message that such illegal downloading takes a heavy toll on the revenues of the... The Associated Press reports that Rhode Island is in violation of federal law for not providing court interpreters for non-English speakers in all civil cases, according to a new study by the Brennan center for Justice at the NYU School of Law.  Among its study of 35 states, it said 46% do not require interpreters in all civil cases, in contravention of Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which the report says covers the RI Judiciary.  Source:  RI Lawyers Weekly; Associated Press....
